This weekend I headed out for a solo walk in Glen Shiel to take on A’ Chralaig and Mullach Fraoch-choire. I drove up on the Friday night and stayed in the Glen Nevis Youth Hostel. I wasn’t expecting much the next morning because of the low cloud, but I set off for Glen Shiel anyway.
It was a cold start, and the first part of the walk offered no views at all as I climbed through the mist. But after around forty-five minutes, I suddenly broke through the top of the cloud into the most incredible temperature inversion. From that moment on, the walk was an absolute treat.

Blue bird day!

The first time I have seen a broken Spectre!
The clouds have breached the ridge.
I had to get a picture at the top!
Days like this make all the tough, bad-weather days so worth it. Scotland is a beautiful country!
